Readers meet for Hijaab- an award winning novel

ಹಿಜಾಬ್’ ಇದು ಗುರುಪ್ರಸಾದ ಕಾಗಿನೆಲೆಯವರು ೨೦೧೭ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ. ವಲಸೆ ಎನ್ನುವ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಯ ಹಲವು ಆಯಾಮಗಳನ್ನು, ಮಜಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಶೋಧಿಸಿದ ಈ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಓದುಗರಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಲೋಕವನ್ನು ಪರಿಚಯಿಸಿತು. ಈ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ಓದುಗರಿಂದಲೂ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿಮರ್ಶಕರಿಂದಲೂ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಗಳಿಸಿತು. ೨೦೧೭ರ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಅಕೆಡಿಯ ‘ಉತ್ತಮ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ’ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನೂ ಗಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿತು. ಇದು ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗಷ್ಟೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಮಿಲನ ಕನ್ನಡ ಕೂಟದ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾದ ಪವನ್ ಏನ್ ರಾವ್ ಅವರಿಂದ ಬಹಳ ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷಿಗೆ ಭಾಶಾಂತರಗೊಂಡು ಸೈಮನ್ ಮತ್ತು ಶುಸ್ಟರ್ ಪ್ರಕಾಶನದಿಂದ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾಗಿ ಆಂಗ್ಲ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಓದುಗರ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಗೆಯನ್ನೂ ಗಳಿಸಿದೆ. ಈ ಸಂಬಂಧ, ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ zoom ಚರ್ಚೆಯೊಂದನ್ನು ಮಿಲ್ವಾಕಿಯ ಮಿಲನ ಕನ್ನಡ ಕೂಟ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಈ ಚರ್ಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಲೇಖಕ  ಹಾಗೂ ಅನುವಾದಕ ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಬನ್ನಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿ, ಲೇಖಕರಿಗೂ ಹಾಗು ಅನುವಾದಕರಿಗೂ ನೀವು ನೇರ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಬಹುದು, ಚರ್ಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗಿಯಾಗಬಹುದು.

Hijab is a novel written in Kannada by Guruprasad Kaginele in 2017. This novel did introduce a new world to Kannada literary world while exploring different aspects of migration. The book was critically acclaimed by both the readers and critics. This novel was honored by Karnataka saahitya academy as the best novel in Kannada for the year 2017. Now, ‘Hijab’ has been translated very fluidly by Pavan N Rao, who is one of our own- Ex president of Milana Kannada koota. It was recently published by Simon and Schuster, India  and has been well received amongst English Readers too. Milana Kannada Koota is happy to present “Hijab- a Reader’s meet- a zoom meeting.
