Milana Kannada Koota of Milwaukee is a cultural association promoting and preserving Kannada culture and heritage in Southeastern Wisconsin. Founded in 1979 by a few proud Kannadigas in the Milwaukee area, it has grown into a formidable association fostering Kannada culture by hosting regular cultural events, workshops, plays and movies. While celebrating its roots, Milana also believes in celebrating the American values of liberty, freedom and respect for cultural diversity. Through its various activities, Milana has continually striven to inculcate in its youth and member families the importance of these cherished values.

State of Wisconsin Recognizes Kannada Language and Kannada Rajyotsava Day

We are happy to share that Tony Evers, Governor of the State of Wisconsin has issued a proclamation to observe November 1, 2022, as
KANNADA LANGUAGE AND RAJYOTSAVA DAY 
Through this, Wisconsin became one of the very few states in the US to recognize, celebrate and observe Nov 1st as Kannada language and Rajyotsava day.
Included in the proclamation is a recognition to Milana kannada koota for the efforts to promote awareness of kannada culture and language in wisconsin.
On behalf of Milana Kannada Koota, we would like to heartily thank Sri. Suresh Krishnaiah for his relentless pursuit in getting this due recognition for Kannada language.
